I love the books Nicholas Sparks writes. They are soppy, help you cry most satisfyingly, always have an amazing(??) romance, and most of the time (to quote Karan Johar) “it’s all about loving your parents”. In other words, perfect chick-lit.
But this Cracked.com article opened my eyes to the intricacies of the plots that Sparks weaves. It’s not always about boy meets girl, falls in love (surprise!), one of the two reconciles with parent, someone gets cancer, someone gets mail they haven’t gotten for years (??…), someone dies. Its more than that.
